Affordability

Undergraduate Programmes

Fees vary slightly according to the qualification you study and your location (if you are studying outside the European Union you may be asked to pay a small supplement). You have to pay an application handling fee, an initial registration fee and (annual) continuing registration fees together with examination entry fees, as appropriate. We calculate that, on average, a London School of Economics (LSE) undergraduate student who has studied over four years and obtains a degree in 2003, will have paid between £2,000 and £3,000 in University fees to complete the degree. Text books and examination administration fees are costed separately.

Postgraduate Programmes

Fees for postgraduate programmes vary according to the particular degree or diploma. They depend on the amount and type of materials and study support provided by the University. Fees, to complete a degree at this level, normally cost between £7,000 and £12,000. Students registered for the same degree or postgraduate diploma by distance learning normally pay the same fees, irrespective of where they live.

For most Postgraduate degrees and diplomas you have to pay either a registration fee and a fee for each subject (which includes an exam entry fee) or an annual course fee. These ways of paying help you spread out the cost of your studies. Examination administration fees are charged separately and paid directly to examination centres.
